2/26/2020 8 Comments Girl Wash your Face!Girl wash your face! Have you seen that title floating around the internet or shown up while drifting through the isles of Target? (Guilty). While that book is definitely on my radar for books to read, were not actually talking about that (but it was a good header right?!) We're actually talking about washing your face. It's time for a skincare chat baby!
Are you into taking care of your skin? Does waking up a little early each morning to wash your face get you excited? Or do you get tired sometimes and go to bed in a full face from the day before? Sometimes the effort and time for taking care of our skin is the biggest hurdle we have to get past to start the journey to better skin. Now I am no licensed expert by any means, but today I just wanted to talk about some of the things I've learned having to deal with my own skin and working up close and personal during client makeovers. Are you ready? #1- DO NOT SLEEP IN YOUR MAKEUP!! I can't stress this enough! One scientist said that sleeping in your makeup for one night is equivalent to 7 days of added wrinkles down the road... um no thank you. And sadly no, makeup wipes don't count. The point of washing your face before bed is to break down all the makeup, oil and grime from the day. This will help your pores breathe and heal overnight, thus making your skin softer and more supple. Lately, I've been feeling the Sorella Apothecary Orange You Jelly Cleanser, it's gentle enough to be used morning and night and smells like Spring! Add all the heart emojis! #2- Face masks are fun! If you have oily skin like me, you may know the trouble of wanting to get rid of the ever present shin that illuminates through every foundation ever made... Ya get my drift? It's not my favorite thing. I've found that a good face mask can really help! But be careful, you don't want to do it too often to where you're stripping your skin. Stripping your skin can actually produce more oil... guilty there too. I've stopped doing scrubs and masks as often as I used to and I can honestly say that it has helped with my oil production. The Sand and Sky Austrialian Pink Clay Mask has been dong wonders and making the texture of my skin a lot smoother! #3: Get an electronic facial scrub brush. The Clarisonic Mia changed the game for me. (Mia's are more expensive, but there are cheaper options that are similar that you can find and Target or Walmart). When we use our hands to wash our faces, often times the soap doesn't get very deep in the pores and we don't get a very good clean that can remove all the grime that settles in the skin throughout the day. The rotating head of the Mia massages the product into the skin and helps remove the junk and reduces pore size. HECK YES! I don't know about you but that's a big win for me! #4: Use and exfoliate in the shower. I like to pair the pink exfoliating glove below with the Abla Botanica body scrub. It is a perfect combination to use all over your body, not just your face! It can truly transform and soften the texture of your skin (from your chest to your butt and everything in between) This is a cheap option that can produce big results. Just try it, you won't be sorry! #5: After you exfoliate you need to moisturize. As mentioned above, exfoliation removes oil so using moisturizer can replace the dirty oil with clean mineral filled moisture to the skin. My favorite thing to do after I exfoliate my arms in the shower is to lather them up with lotion and put on my fluffy robe to help it sink into my skin. When I take my robe off my arms are left feeling super smooth without the feeling of oily lotion left over. For my face the Sorella Apothicary Daily Greens Moisturizer is maybe my fave moisturizer I've ever used. It smells like fruit and never makes me feel oily or clogged! Drumroll please!!! Finally coming at you with the big truth... No matter how fancy/ expensive/ high tech any cover up or foundation is, the truth about a great looking makeover isn't actually the makeup, it's great skin! You can go buy the cheapest drug store makeup and it can still look really nice if the skin underneath it is well taken care of! Was this type of post helpful? Let me know! Jor

Aloe vera hair wax not only helps in styling but also nourishes my hair. It keeps my hair in place without making it feel stiff or crunchy.

Dry skin can be tough, but the right moisturizer makes all the difference. I’ve noticed how a rich, nourishing formula can soothe and hydrate without feeling greasy. Any recommendations for a winter essential?
