Truth. Goodness. Beauty
If we're just being honest here, love is my favorite! It's happy, it's kind, it's exciting, and it's lasting!
When Taylor first reached out to me over the summer about being her makeup artist for her wedding, I knew right away we would quickly become friends. She was just so sweet and excited which in turn made me even more excited to work with her! Also she's a redhead so hello- instant friendship!! Each of my brides gets a complimentary trial session before her wedding to make sure she gets the exact look she wants, so for hers we decided to do it right before their engagements pictures to kill to birds with one stone. And ohh my goodness, I'm so glad we did! It was so much playing with golds and browns to enhance her natural beauty! Not only did I get to meet Taylor and John that morning, but after the makeover I also go to tag along with them to the shoot to do touchups and experience my first session working with my sorority sister and someone I'd been dying to see in action Ms. Paige Baranik (@paigeryanphoto). So without further adue, enjoy some of the sweetness of Taylor and John! Taylor, I absolutely cannot wait for your wedding makeover, you are going to be the most beautiful bride!

The first time I met Kierra was my freshman year of college in a Zumba class, well technically I didn't meet her in class since she was the instructor, but I remember thinking omg this girl is so joyful and energetic- I really want to be her friend!
Then a few months later I just so happened to join the sorority she was in and being friends became more of a possibility! Her persona would light up any room and I never saw her without a smile on her face. She is the definition of the life of the party! Then she started getting really sick. She couldn't dance anymore and her body started needing more help. She had to use a feeding tube to eat and a walker just to get around. And the doctors couldn't figure out what was happening... Until a few months ago!! They finally figured out why her body was attacking itself and came out with the perfect solution of infusions that would work with her body, not against it- which meant no more liquid diet! So when she first reached out to me about doing her makeup and finding a photographer for a "celebration shoot in honor of (her) newfound health" I was all weepy with excitement! Kierra, Jamie (jamiedunnphotography) and I all met up to plan the shoot and the second I sat down I knew it would be special. Jamie helped come up with some super fun paint ideas that you'll see below and it was set! During the shoot Kierra wanted to capture all the items she no longer had to use and how freeing that was! I rolled around her walker and let me tell you, that was hard work! I now have a new appreciation and respect for anyone who has to use one! The colors painted on the walls at the Neon District in downtown Norfolk were the perfect backdrop for such a lively session! I think this shoot was spot on and I was so thankful to be a part of it! Kierra you inspire us all, now go and rock the adult world like I know you will! xo, Jor It's been awhile since I've been about to take a little vacation up to my family's farm in Kentucky, so when my sister reccommended the trip I was all in! I had a little break in my work schedule and knew I wouldnt always have the opportunity so we had to go!
It's always so fun seeing our cousins and we wish we could see them more! We spent the week eating alot (obviously), shopping, and just hanging out. We also got to visit my grandma, which was a blessing and somewhat bittersweet since she hasn't been doing well. One of my favorite moments of the trip was being able to sign with the first deaf person I'd ever met. You see I taught sign language to a class of kindergardeners for my high school senior project and fell in love with the language. But all the people who I signed with were hearing. My family had become friends with a family who had a deaf daughter and she came over for dinner and we played board games together. My sister kept telling everyone my stoke meter was was so full! And it really was! I rode a horse for the first time in forever and felt very country, haha!! I just wanted to share some of the happy from this past week! Jor |
